Hey Cafe Fan's
Here we go with another design, this time into the dark depths of design and what I have planned is a mean, Black Tornado machine.

This will be stealthy, low, and above all, more fun to ride than an Elephant loaded with Betty pages.
So, have a look at the build up and see if you dig it.
This is for a super cool guy who has been bitten by the proverbial Cafe Racer bug.
This Cafe is going to be a cool design, the frame is going to be Metalflake silver and will certainly brighten up the frame area.
The Motor is going to be torn down to the crank, inspected, and rebuilt, the bores honed or bored and new parts will inlcude came chain, New tensioners and also new points, condensers and anything else I find a problem with along the way.

Most people just built the bike and say, I will leave the motor, it's running, why bother.
well 100 miles down the road, you may not have realised your cam chain roller was about to crap itself.
Plus, removing the motor from a freshley painted frame and then refitting, is not the easiest thing to do.

The Motor is tired, I ran this and she smoked after a while through the breather, I am sure the rings will need to be replaced and also hone the bores too.
I check the gears for damage and, replace any that may be suspect, as second and 1st gear get quite a hammering in today's fast paste traffic.
I like to also detail the motor after and hand polish all my aluminum, it takes a long while but, I enjoy the benifits of all that toil when you see the end result and the customers face when he see's his new motor for the first time.
This Cafe Racer is hopefully gonna get plenty of miles on her.
As he wants to be able to take is other half out with him from time to time, so, I shall be making a special Cafe seat to accomidate his girl and then, when he wants to ride his steed on his own, a cool Cafe tank and seat combo will bolt right on and, he is ready to race the corners.

The Bike will also have a set of cool Gloss Black rims that will be adorned by a polished hub and polished stainless spokes.

Well, here I am in my shop and have now got the frame all powder coated, the metalflake looks great and, in the sun, it reflects like a Rappers mouthfull of bling.

The swing arms is as good and now the time comes to get this into some sort of sequence.
I have powder coated a few other items Black, like the battery box, wheel adjusters and engine mounts etc and think this Black and silver will make a great contrast.
As I said, this will be a 2 part combo special and have used the Original seat and turned it from a soggy arse hurter, to a Black and Metalflake are warmer.

This seat will accomodate James and his other half, but still has the Cafe feel and look.
I used old 1970's Metalflake vinyl and this has come out really well.

I shall be mocking up an old front and rear wheel when i have this together, until I powder coat some rims and Polish the hubs, this takes alot of time and effort, although the wait is really worth it.
This time I have worked on the Gauges, as they were as faded as a 70's bumper sticker in Arizona.

I thought that i would revamp everything, infact the Bottom end was rechromed and then I made a new set of Gauges for the bike, and this time I have added the name of the build TORNADO on the face, kind of giving it an identitiy really.

Just to add to the flavor, I added the word Bang! on the Tachometer, just so he doesn't get too adventerous, and blows the Motor.
Came out pretty cool.
This will be all put together with a Chrome cover and will look great against a powdercoated Gloss Black main bracket on the triple tree's.

Other things that I am going to attempt on this Cafe Racer, is, have a 2 seat and tank option.
(But time restraints may halt this, as things have gone bloody barmy here at the carpy household.)This way, James can jump on his Cafe anytime on his own and get his elbow down in the corners up in the canyons when ever he feels the need to.

But, if his other half wants to come out and enjoy the 750-4, then he can remove the tank and seat, add another tank with a longer seat, also add a fender with a light attached and, there you go, another Cafe Racer with a twist to it.
That way, both people are into it and can enjoy this crazy sickle.
I have used a later tank and used my knee inderts as I do with this style of machine.
The tank was smoothed out as best as possible and now is a dark Black, but this time I had added 2 Metalflake Silver lines down her with some white pinstripes to accent.

But I still have a little way to go, she is not cleacoated yet as I want to have TORNADO in metalflake on the sides of the tank too.
This will really make the gas tank stand out in a crowd, and when the sun hits the flake, it will sparkle like the chassis.

This is going to look great with the Metalflake Cafe seat too and I am sure James will almost fill his pants when he claps his eyes on it?
Bloody hope so, it was murder to get right.
Right, As you can see, the gas tank looks great and the Silver metalflake lines seem to flow with the seat.
I am happy with this and the white pin lines are just the icing on the cake.

The gauges have all the chrome treatment on them and now all the top end is completed and looking Classic.
The headlight has the tri-Bar set up and these lights, although bloody expensive, are brighter than any A student.
I also added my Signature peak and this all goes together well.

The Cafe will start to come together, still a ways to go and my next job is to get the rear shock absorbers sorted, and then I can get stuck into the rear wheel etc.
I shall be using The original chrome shocks, this will flow with the color scheme of the Cafe well.
www.oldbikebarn.com will do ya a cool deal on a set of Chrome shock absorbers and I like them too.

Well time and tide wait for no man and I have been hammering out all I can on my own.
I still do not want a bunch of people working for me and just knocking out anything.
I would rather fold the whole thing up then get it all shipped out.
Too many wankers out there pretending they know about Cafe Racers when all they are really is a bunch of leaches trying to coin in on something they really know bugger all about.

I eat and sleep this stuff as you all know, the real deal and I get a kick out of introducing people to the whole CAFE RACER lifestyle.
I have seen many people immitate and try and swan the stuff off as Cafe builders and end up pissing my self with some of the things they think look right.
The main thing is to enjoy what you do, obviously I love it, but some just do it to turn a few bucks.
With me, you get bucket loads more than you paid for.
This Cafe Racer really looks the part now and I am sure that the machine will get plenty of looks.

This Tornado has so much time into it, and the more you look at the creation, the more you can see what sort of time and sweat went into producing it.

I hope I have inspired you to get out into your garage and grab a Spanner and get into your ride, be it a Ariel or a Zundapp, a Cafe Racer is any Motorcycle.
